Book review/Summary:

An honest and straightforward auto-biography which includes a Bereaved Mom’s personal Testimony, 183 Topics, Scriptures of Comfort, and her deceased son’s poems. It offers Hope and Redemption to others on this journey of Grief. It is approximately 370 pages with a beautiful design and internal layout. It can also be utilized in group discussions easily because of the manner in which the Topics are presented. The Author has been a Pastor’s wife, a counselor at a treatment center in a hospital, a counselor at a private clinic, has worked numerous hotlines and at shelters for the abused, sat on the board of a major city rape crisis center for 3 yrs., had designed her own program on shame-reduction which she taught at a women’s center, facilitated many groups, raised 4 natural born children along with an adopted child and a foster child, has had 4 pregnancy losses, and was barren for 7 yrs. while being told by doctors that she could not have children. It’s a remarkable story of Hope & Redemption. She became an ordained minister 2/06. She currently operates an on line informative and supportive group for bereaved parents and continues to write new topics on WordPress. She is also a Contributor on ‘The Mighty’. This is her 1st book. She intends to publish a 2nd in the future focused on a 24 yr. abusive marriage. I highly recommend it.

  1. I am reading your book now, “Gifts From the Ashes”. My son died March 10,2017, and your words of encouragement and scriptures references are helping me. To know that your son has been dead for almost 19 years, and you still have those down moments, I can already see that and my first year anniversary is coming soon. Without the grace of God, I could not make it. My son was 24 years old. I cherish each moment my husband and I had with him.
Thank you for sharing and caring. It is good to know that someone is out there whom I can relate to.
Seeing the parents in Florida who lost children in the senseless murders, brings that empathy for them and knowing what they are going through. It is a long journey, but with Jesus you can make it.
    God bless you!

    1. I’m so very sorry, Rita, that you are on this journey, as well. I often draw the analogy between this path which carries us over mountains and through the valleys as a great River… constantly flowing, consistently changing, yet forever constant. The ‘moments’ of excruciating pain do lessen over time and their duration shortens. However, when they hit, the intensity of it all remains. Personally, I have tried other means of escape…none of which have been fruitful. My only consistent Hope is Jesus, “He was despised and forsaken of men, A man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; And like one from whom men hide their face, He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.” (IS. 53:3) He was not jumping up and down in the Garden of Gethsemane, nor ever depicted as smiling as He hung on the Cross. We learn from Him how to endure:
      Hebrews 12:
2 “looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Everyday, we choose once again where to focus. I love that song which Dan Gokey sings: ‘Give me Jesus’. The verse: ‘You can have all this world…Give me Jesus’ I embrace. May our Lord guide your every step as I know He shall be faithful to do. Until we are reunited with our sons…blessings upon you. This life is truly temporary, a mere vapour (James 4:14). It is eternity that truly matters. (((HUGS)))
